Simply Seasonal: Easy Crafts for Winter, Spring, Summer & Autumn
Written by: Jennifer Roos
TRINITY Publishing: $19.99
Review by: Mary Ann Gallagher of Benjamin's Books

Local crafter, Jennifer Roos has compiled 52 of her favourite craft creations in this brand new publication. Have no fear, the ideas are simple and the materials required are easily accessible. This book is meant for the most novice of craftspeople. As long as you have a few of the basics lying around the house, like a glue gun, glitter markers and fabric paint, you are sure to master these creations.

As the name of the book suggests, it is divided cleanly by crafts that are inspired by each of the four seasons. As we head into Spring, you may be interested in the garden markers that help differentiate weeds from perennials or perhaps you want to get a headstart on your potted plants with the chalkboard pots.

Then when summer hits and the flowers are in bloom, you may want to make good use of your pretty petals by pressing them into unique greeting cards or glass coasters. While the sandy candles will remind you of the fun you had on the beach.

Each craft includes a colour photograph of the finished product, materials required, a brief commentary on the craft and then very simple step-by-step instructions on how to make it...perfect for those of us who are not Martha Stewart savvy yet get the crafting bug every so often.

Not only is this book great for individuals who like to tinker with pipe cleaners, hot glue guns and paint, but it is also an ideal book for school libraries.
