Book Submission Guidelines Trinity Publishing is always looking for new, exciting authors. We accept manuscripts in a number of genres: Fiction: We accept literary fiction, crime/thriller/adventure fiction, romance, and some science fiction/fantasy, for youth readers and adults. We are particularly interested in anything with a “green” or environmental theme. (See the Jeremy series by George Fry or Totally, Terribly, Utterly Wrong by Heather Campbell.) Non-fiction: We accept self-help, do-it-yourself, history, and humour. We also have a line of heritage books, books we feel are important to understanding where we have come from and where we are going. (See From Cloddy Earth to Glittering Gold by George and Harry Norrie.) What we look for: We look for high-quality writing, engaging characters, and well-told stories in our fiction; for clarity and impact in our non-fiction. How to submit: First, we ask that you send us a query letter, either by regular post or e-mail; please include an SASE with your post query. If your work falls into one of our genres, and if your query grabs the interest of our editors, you’ll be asked either to send part or all of your manuscript. You may submit by either regular post or email. If you submit by regular post, please follow the usual guidelines: the text must be printed on standard 8.5” x 11” paper, on one side of the paper only, double-spaced with 1” margins all around. If you submit by email, please make sure that your manuscript is formatted as a Word document and attach it to your email. Do not paste directly into your email. We ask for 3 months’ exclusive reading; it really does take that long for our editors to read a manuscript, because they are very busy people. Please note: We publish our books in electronic format first. In very special cases, we will make an effort to bring a book out in paper; if the sales of an e-book warrant it, we will bring that title out in paper as well. Trinity Publishing is an environmentally-aware company.
Lilac Grotto submission guidelinesFor our Lilac Grotto erotica imprint, our requirements are somewhat different. We will accept any sub-genre (suspense, historical, adventure, science fiction/fantasy, etc.), but we reserve the right to reject any manuscript we consider more pornographic than erotic. In erotica, sex may be the main thrust of the story, but it is not the be-all and end-all. There must be a story surrounding the episodes of sexual encounter. The best erotica, like the best fiction of any genre, has characters readers care about and a plot that keeps them engaged. In terms of word-count, we like to see manuscripts no longer than 100,000 words, but not shorter than 60,000 (75,000 is better). We accept both electronic and paper submissions, but be warned: just because you submit your work electronically, it does not mean we will be able to get back to you sooner. We will get back to you no later than 3 months from the day we receive your manuscript, whether it is on paper or composed of electrons. If you choose to submit via email, please make sure that your manuscript is in a Word document attached to your email. Do not paste directly into the body of your email. For Lilac Grotto submissions, the sex scenes will be graphic, yet tastefully written. Use your own judgement when it comes to euphemism. Please, though—do try to refrain from the use of the term “throbbing manhood,” unless you are being deliberately facetious. For the rest of our requirements, see our regular Submission Guidelines, above.
