Exporting Atlantic Canadian Talent to the World Their entire approach is refreshing and somewhat different. Kim Cookson, Yvonne Wilson, and Software Engineer Mansour Al Akeel make up Trinity Enterprise Inc. It is the only fully employee owned edu-tainment company in Canada; the term "edu-tainment"meaning that the company focuses on educational and entertainment projects. "We represent authors, artists, video artists and musicians," says Kim Cookson. "Besides direct to consumer online sales, we also distribute business to business as far away as Singapore and we currently have about 10,000 contacts." What further separates Trinity Enterprises from other distributors is that the company doesn't physically take the artist's products in stock, minimizing the risk for the artist and eliminating unnecessary shipping costs. Artists only ship items that are sold. In addition, Trinity Enterprises offers three different contracts to artists, giving them options of their own involvement and needs. But Kim Cookson and her cohorts do not stop there. "It just isn't enough to change the way business is conducted, you also have to come up with new, imaginative ways to market products," says Cookson. The first of such new products is an audio book. Not that audio books are a new invention, but the new series presented are 60 minute audio books, rather than the usual hours of multiple disc sets. "We are looking for content that is longer than a short story, but shorter than a full-fledged book and that is of interest to people that want to spend an hour to learn something or be entertained," continues Cookson. These audio books will also be priced differently than regular audio books. Trinity Enterprises is also a publishing company. Two books have recently been published: A Deep Sea by Yvonne Wilson and Prize for Learning Love by Catherine Thompson ,a biography of Margaret Norrie, mother of Honorable Margaret McCain. In addition, the company prides themselves on hosting "community ties" events, such as Cafe Connections or a multicultural night, which is designed for immigrants to meet and discuss common interests.
