Trinity Enterprise, the Conservation Data Centre, - 2007/05/07 07:56 E-books: never out of print; no huge print runs eating up the forests; no trucks or trains polluting the air to ship them.

The Atlantic Canada Conservation Data Centre, a non-profit group focused on the Atlantic region, and Trinity Enterprise, Inc. have joined forces to help save the planet. Our shared ethics have brought our artistic community together with this scientific community in this fight for the environment through e-books. A percentage from each book sold will go to the ACCDC to aid in their work.

The CDC assembles and provides data and expertise on areas of conservation concern, such as plant and animal species at risk. The Centre is staffed by conservation scientists and data managers who collectively have 100 years of experience in the field. Though the CDC focuses on Atlantic Canada, it provides conservation science information to support conservation decisions across Canada and in the US.

A traditional book goes through 24 steps in its life cycle, each one using valuable resources. Trinity e-books only take 6 steps! That’s a reduction of more than 70%! Even if we burn CDs, which we do on an as-requested basis, that’s still a huge saving for the environment.

Our e-books are cheaper than paper copies; there are no shipping costs involved in downloads and only minor charges applied to CD versions. They undergo the same rigorous editing process that a paper book does. An e-book allows an author to reach a global market much more easily.

Trinity isn’t trying to replace books; we’re just offering an environmental alternative. More people spend more time on computers now than not, and one of the things they’re doing is reading. And if you prefer, you can always print the PDF-format e-book for your personal use.
