Brent Mason named 2007 Stompin’ Tom Award recipient
Posted By: Yao , on Wednesday, 14 February 2007

New Brunswick singer-songwriter Brent Mason has been named as one of the recipients of this year’s Stompin’ Tom Award at the East Coast Music Awards.

Brent has established himself as one of the most profound and prolific songwriters on the East Coast. With five full-length recordings under his belt, the Saint John singer-songwriter has been a major influence on the emerging folk-music scene across the region. He has toured extensively, and has been a mainstay on the Canadian festival concert scene. He’s also hosted a legendary “Open Mic Night” at a local pub, encouraging younger artists to display their talents.

The Stompin’ Tom Awards are presented annually to one individual or group from each of the five regions of the East Coast Music Association: New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, mainland Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Prince Edward Island. The award was created to honour musicians who have paved the way for other artists and who have made lasting contributions to the music industry on the East Coast.
