Sellers

How do I get started?
First, register as a seller on the site. To do this, go to the Login/Register link at the top of the homepage and follow the steps. Make sure to check the box where it says “Do you want to be a seller?” Don’t forget to purchase your $1.00 (CAD) Loonie Link membership! Otherwise, you won’t be officially a seller and you won’t be able to load up your products.

How much does it cost to join Loonie Link?

It costs just $1.00 in Canadian funds for a one-year seller’s membership.

How do I renew my membership after the year is up?
At the moment, when your membership expires, you must purchase your Loonie Link membership again, as you did when you first signed up. We're working on a way to take automatic payments from credit cards, but as yet we're not set up to do that.

What can I sell on Loonie Link?
Anything! As long as it’s legal. Handmade jewellery, paintings, sculptures, CDs your band has made, computer games you’ve designed, books—if it’s yours, you can sell it.

How do I list my products on Loonie Link?
After you sign up, you’ll get a confirmation email. This email has a link that will lead you to the Control Panel for your account. Go to Product List, then click on New and fill in the information for your product. Remember: you’re in control of pricing, sizing, etc.

What size can my images be?
Our system automatically re-sizes any image that you upload to fit the website’s requirements.

What happens when I sell an item?
Our system automatically generates an email to alert you that one of your items has been sold. It will tell you what was purchased, who purchased it, and where you need to ship it.

How can I check my sales?
Our system generates a report for you, that you can check online or print, as you prefer. Go to Your Profile and click on Loonie Link Stats.

How do I contact the buyer?
Our system automatically generates an email that goes to both you and the buyer. You don’t need to contact the buyer directly.

When do I receive payment?
If you have a PayPal account and are set up to take payments through that, you receive payment right away. If not, we’ll cut you a cheque once a month for the month’s sales.

How are bricks-and-mortar stores involved in Loonie Link?
Stores can sign up to be sellers, just like individuals. This allows them access to everything we carry on the Loonie Link website. When a store signs up, it receives a unique ID number. Store employees give the number to their customers, and whenever a store customer buys something from Loonie Link with that ID number, the store gets a percentage of the sale. The stores contribute the biggest portion of advertising for Loonie Link, and thus for your products.

Why do stores get 40% of sales made through their unique ID numbers?
We at Loonie Link want to help save the little shop around the corner, shops that can’t compete with the big box stores. That 40% contributes to the shops’ bottom lines.

Why do stores get such a large percentage?
If you were to sell your products on consignment in a shop, the shop would ask for a discount on anything they bought from you to sell. It can be as little as 20% or as high as 80%, depending on the type of shop. By selling through Loonie Link, you still make 50% of the price when your products sell via a store’s ID number. And those products that sell directly from the site? You get all the money, less 10% commission for Loonie Link. And as an artist, you also get a unique ID number! You become a mobile store: you can give your number to every customer you meet, and anything that they buy using your number earns you 40% of the sale!

Do I have to ship my stuff to a store if they sell it?
No way! The beauty of Loonie Link for a shop is that the shop doesn’t have to carry any extra inventory—and you don’t have to let your stuff out of your sight until it’s sold. You ship directly to the buyer.

Who pays for the shipping?
The customer does.

What do I do if a transaction goes awry?
Email us at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it and we’ll handle it. You can also post feedback on buyers on the Trinity forum.

Remember, there are no monthly fees to register on Loonie Link—just the yearly fee of $1.00. And for $1.00, you reach hundreds of thousands of potential customers.
